Auditions 2018

Young Performers Needed for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

WOW is inviting young performers aged 9+ to audition for the children’s ensemble in its production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which will be staged at the Weymouth Pavilion, 10 – 13 April 2019, with matinees on the Thursday & Saturday. Please note there is a maximum height restriction of 148cm (4ft 10in) for boys and girls.

We anticipate a large response so please be advised that no more than 40 places are available for the process. Being involved in a WOW production is a huge commitment, not just for the young performers but also for their parents or carers. Please only start the process if you are confident you can match the commitment outlined below and in our Expectations Summary.

Everyone wishing to audition will need to be able to attend at least the first two stages of the process and be available, if successful, for the casting auditions on Sunday 9 December:

  • Audition Workshop – Sunday 2 December at 4.30pm.
  • Auditions – Monday 3 December from 4.15pm (times TBC)
  • Rehearsal – Tuesday 4 December, 6.30pm to 9.00pm
  • Casting Auditions – Sunday 9 December from 10.30am

Please ensure that you have read the Audition Details and Resources which contains song lyrics and the dialogue to be used in the auditions. Both songs will be taught at the workshop but we recommend learning the lyrics beforehand. Following the auditions on Monday 3 December, parents will be advised if their child have been selected for the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang by email and/or SMS message by Tuesday 4 December in order for their child to attend that evening’s rehearsal.

  1. All children must be 9 or above by 4 December 2018 and bring proof of date of birth to the audition, together with a recent colour headshot (passport sized) for the Audition form.
  2. There is a maximum height restriction of 148cm (4ft 10in) for boys and girls at time of sign up.
  3. Children considering auditioning for the roles of Jeremy and Jemima Potts, must be available for the character auditions on Sunday 9 December.
  4. Casting will be at the discretion of the Production Team and we reserve the right to recast if children become unavailable or miss rehearsals.
  5. The auditions are to join the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a temporary member of WOW and do not guarantee full membership of WOW or a place in future productions.
  6. Once confirmed as a cast member, there will be an £80.00 fee payable to WOW which covers temporary membership as well as a £20 production fee. (Please advise a committee member in confidence if this may present a barrier to participation.)
