Full Audition Information
WOW usually holds annual auditions for new members after the April production, and occasionally after the November show. The number of available places depends on leavers and casting needs.
How to Audition
When dates are set, they will be posted here and on WOW’s social media. We may also include details in our current production’s programme. A registration form will appear below when applications open.
Before You Apply
Being part of WOW is a big commitment both for performers and their families. Please read our Expectations Summary before starting the process.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
The audition panel (Chairman + Creative Team) considers:
- Singing voice and musicality
- Movement ability (dance training can be an advantage)
- Stage presence and potential
Audition Process
We are reviewing our process and may introduce self-tapes. All video and live audition recordings are viewed only by the panel and deleted after the process.
After the Audition
Parents will be notified of results by email. The panel’s decision is final, and no feedback is provided.
Rehearsals
- Sunday–Tuesday evenings, often three consecutive nights until 9pm.
- Not all rehearsals are full company, but members must attend when called.
Fees
- £65 membership per half-year
- £35 fee per production paid at the same time as membership fee
- Support is available if the cost is a barrier — please speak with a committee member in confidence.
Parental Involvement
- Obtain a Dorset Council chaperone licence.
- Join the chaperone rota and/or help backstage during show week.
