WOW’s November production of CATS was a box office hit with around 4,000 tickets sold for the five show run at Weymouth Pavilion Theatre. Audience members reacted very positively to this creative re-imagining of CATS from director, Jeremy Tustin. Responses on social media were typified by the following comment on WOW’s Facebook Page, “Fantastic performance. Not only the cast but makeup, costumes, set, lighting and live orchestra…blooming brilliant!”
This was also reflected in Marion Cox’s review for the Dorset Echo – “The young school age cast bring energy and grace to this memorable production as they sing while continually on the move in a musical which immediately captures the audience’s attention with its physical style and beauty.”
On opening night, WOW welcomed several representatives from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA), including the National President, Jacquie Steadman, the immediate past president, Nick Lawrence, the South West Regional Councillor, Graham Liverton as well as the Area Representative, Sylvia Coates. Sylvia has written the NODA Show report, which she opens by stating: “Never willing to rest on their laurels, WOW are always looking for the next challenge..” This is indeed true as rehearsals are already under way for WOW’s next ambitious production – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in April 2019!
