Two members of WOW are in the cast of Pirates of the Pavilion at Weymouth Pavilion theatre. Alex Rogan, in his first professional role, features as the villainous Captain Cutlass and Harry Lake returns to the summer pantomime for his second year as a principal dancer.
Alex first performed for WOW at the age of 10 as the Artful Dodger in the 2012 production of Oliver! More recent roles include the Rum Tum Tugger in CATS (2018) and the Childcatcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2019) .
Speaking to the Dorset Echo about playing the panto villain, Alex said, “I don’t mind the boos – I love them. I was quite recently the Child Catcher in WOW’s Chitty Chitty Bang Bang so this has been good preparation for that.”
In June, Harry won gold at the Dance World Cup in Portugal for a Song and Dance Trio of “Hello!” (Book of Mormon) with a routine created by Weymouth Dance Studio. The other boys in the trio are also WOW members and at the Dance World Cup Gala they were awarded ‘Most Outstanding Duet/Trio Junior and Senior’.
Harry’s principal roles for WOW include, Baron Bomburst in Chitty Chitty Bang bang, Old Deuteronomy and Bustopher Jones in CATS as well as the Rev. Shaw in Footloose.
Alex and Harry follow in the footsteps of former members Charlotte Allen and Maggie Ayles who have also performed key roles in previous summer pantos.
